Professor Bernard Yan is an esteemed neurologist and neurointerventionist at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Professor of Medicine at the University of Melbourne. With expertise in stroke intervention and cerebrovascular diseases, he has led major clinical trials, particularly in acute endovascular thrombectomy and machine learning applications in neurology.
He has published 279 academic papers, including works in The Lancet and New England Journal of Medicine, influencing global stroke treatment guidelines. As Ex-President of the Stroke Society of Australasia, he pioneered Australia’s first Stroke Unit Certification (2022).
Professor Yan is also a founding director of the Australasian Stroke Academy and the ACTION program, which has trained over 300 Chinese neurologists. His research funding exceeds AUD 54 million, and he continues to shape stroke management and neurological education worldwide.
